A sunburnt Roman evening sky..

I love being in Rome at twilight and experiencing the fall of the sun in the evenings, watching the sunset being put to bed.. one of the most relaxing spots for me to soak it all up is sitting on the Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna (Trinita dei Monti) especially at this time of the evening when everyone gathers around the marble steps and there is a hum and a happy warmth in the air from the ease of the crowd.
There are so many beautiful area’s in Rome to view the sunburnt evening colours, Villa Borghese at the view point above Piazza del Popolo is where I took the top photo, the views stretch over the rooftops and onto the horizon.  Another spectacular view point at sunset or any time of the day for that matter is Piazzale del Gianicolo which sits way up on the hill above Trastevere and has unbelievable panoramic views across the entire historical city centre, in the centre of the piazza sits an interesting statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi who in 1848 was an influential and highly respected Italian general and politician.
Another really special viewpoint in Rome is right at the top of the Cupola above St Peter’s Basilica which is the highest climbing point of the dome, this is a particularly spectacular view yet probably best to do this just before dusk so that you can really appreciate the entirety of where you are actually standing.  Just up the road is Castel Sant’Angelo which has pretty views across the Tiber river and I love the views from Il Giardino degli Aranci at night, this little garden is so perfectly manicured with lovely orange tree’s surrounding a play area and has a wonderful peaceful atmosphere where I love to go an read my book in the afternoons until sunset before returning for the evening meal.. when in Rome!

What is there not to love about a warm summer evening sunset in Bella Roma!
