Camogli in the Italian Riviera
Camogli has to be one of the prettiest and more relaxed fishing towns on the Italian Riviera located at the foot of the Portofino mountains. Just a stones throw away from riches and luxury this little town I am sure was built by some romantics at heart. The waters edge is not lined with buzzing cafes and bars yet just enough all carefully positioned in little nooks sporadically along the promenade there to be enjoyed by locals and tourists. I imagine during the month of August the promenade fills up with local Italian family’s escaping the city hype to the waters edge for their well earned summer break, yet when I visited this magical place in September the crowds had diminished and I was left with an imprint in my mind of peace, harmony and memories of the tasty delicate seafood caught by locals that is a plenty. Walking along the waters edge and passing under the stone white washed arches you will come across the other side of the bay that is neatly yet compactly engulfed by local fishing boats in an array of colours. Treat yourself to a cocktail at one of the open air cafes at dusk or after dinner go and sit on the stoney beach with a gelato, some friends and watch how the towns lights reflect like little mirrors on the calm rippling water out to sea.
I will be back to visit Camogli one day. xmm
