Bella Venezia and the tradition lives on..
I love Venice in the spring time, I love Venice in the fall…
In Venice there are no cars, no sound of buzzing traffic or tooting horns, only the sound of the singing Gondoliers. Venice is like no other place on earth, the traditional black Gondola’s were the original form of transport in Venice and are luckily still around (even if the numbers have dropped), a lucrative business and here for the tourists enjoyment. Renting a joyful ride on a gondola is not a cheap holiday activity, more a memorable extravagant one, yet its worth every penny if only at least once in a lifetime. Negotiating on price is always worth a try yet they are a fiercely competitive bunch so the prices are maintained between a set price point, starting high and slowly working your way down you could pay anywhere from 180 down to 90 Euro, plus prices escalate in peak season and during certain times of the day and night. Always check which route your Gondolier is going to take you, some have set routes and it will depend if you prefer floating down the Grand Canal or taking a slow turn down the romantic narrow side canals.
For some great handbook guides to Venice..
