| Hair-pin turns along the Amalfi Coast drive
Its easy to unwind once you start the drive from Naples along the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy, the views are spectacular, where the Tyrrhenian Sea meets the Mediterranean Sea offering sparkling blue waters that seem to stretch on for ever. Not driving is the preferred seating option, the views are so magnificent that if you do decide to sit in the drivers seat you will miss out on the beauty it beholds as its a sure thing to be keeping your eye on the road and not the views stretching beyond, this narrow stretch of road can be a dangerous one if you are unfamiliar with the hair-pin turns. I suggest hiring a driver to take you from A to B, that way you can enjoy the drive being able to relax with someone who knows every inch of the road and understands the local driving etiquette which can sometimes involve unfamiliar crazy antics.

| On a sparkling day you can see forever, tiny boats in the distance bobbing up and down as you pass through some wonderful little villages that are all so unique in their own way with local arts and crafts, an abundance of local delicious seafood and warm inviting friendly smiles.
As soon as I hit Sorrento this is where I start to really feel my shoulders relax and the wonderful Southern Italy set in, its a strange feeling for me, the warmth of the people, carefree spirits and beauty that this region in Italy beholds is so magical. All the way along the edge of the coast you can drive from Positano through the slightly calmer and less commercialised Praiano, then on to other tiny little fishing towns such as Furore, Conca Dei Marini and on to the famous town of Amalfi. If you feel like continuing the drive there are so many other wonderful towns to explore, some sit up high with mind blowing views such as Ravello, Scala and Tramonti. Or staying on the lower waters edge the towns run from Amalfi through Atrani, Minori and Maiori, Cetara, Vietri and on to the slightly more smoggy Salerno. Ravello is a pretty special town to visit during the day due to the incredible views it offers yet from April through to November a must do on the calendar is to visit Ravello for an unforgettable evening of entertainment sitting in the gardens of the Villa Rufolo of Ravello where the prestigious music festival takes place each year and has been successfully running since 1953 with sounds of the cello, piano and violin recitals in the open air gardens. If you can’t quite get to the Amalfi Coast this year here are two great films that will help you to escape and enjoy watching the beauty of Southern Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Under the Tuscan Sun is my all time favourite and I also loved A Good Woman staring Scarlett Johansson and Helen Hunt set back in the 1930’s. Both of these films will sweep you off to Italy’s Amalfi Coast in more ways than one. Take the drive… xmm
